OUR HERITAGE
Rooted in Science. Proven in Space.
Founded in 1992 by scientists and engineers from CERN and the University of Oslo, IDEAS has deep roots in applied physics, radiation detector instrumentation, and electrical engineering. Since then, we’ve specialized in designing and manufacturing custom integrated circuits and subsystems for radiation detectors used in medical imaging, industrial scanning, nuclear science, and astrophysics.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Gunnar Maehlum
Gunnar Mæhlum holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Oslo, with a background from CERN, the University of Karlsruhe, and the University of Perugia. He joined IDEAS in 1997, where he held different technical, scientific, and managerial positions. He previously served as Vice President of Research at Gamma Medica Inc. and General Manager of Gamma Medica-Ideas (Norway) AS.
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Lyusine Shakhbazyan
Lyusine Shakhbazyan oversees financial management, planning, and compliance at IDEAS. She holds double Master’s degrees in Accounting & Auditing, and in Financial Economics, from BI Norwegian Business School.
Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
Aage Kalsæg
​Aage Kalsæg leads global marketing and sales at IDEAS. He has 30+ years of experience in strategy, management, sales, and marketing in the IT and electronics industries, with expertise in international distribution, product development, supply chains, and global marketing. He has held executive roles at Tallgrass Tech, Ingram Micro Norway, HDD AS, and NOVELDA AS.

Amir Hasanbegovic
Amir Hasanbegovic holds a Ph.D. in Nanoelectronics from the University of Oslo and leads IC design group at IDEAS. His expertise includes mixed-signal CMOS design for astrophysics, ADC design, radiation-tolerant and ultra-low-power circuits, IC testing and packaging, and test system development.
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Erik Jakubowski
Erik Jakubowski has over 15 years of international experience in business development, project management, engineering and operations from Equinor ASA as well as board roles in several technology companies. He holds double Master’s degrees in Engineering Physics and Financial Economics, from Chalmers University of Technology and Gothenburg University respectively.

Dirk Meier
Dirk Meier holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Heidelberg and has a background from CERN and the University of Michigan Medical School. He has worked as a researcher and project manager at Gamma Medica Inc. and IDEAS.
Head of System Development
Codin Gheorghe
Codin Gheorghe leads the System Development group at IDEAS. He holds an M.Sc. from SINTEF in hardware/software system design and a Dipl.-Ing. in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Munich. He has broad experience in electronics development across medical, oil and gas, testing, and radiation detection, as well as extensive expertise in project management
